Antique National School (ANS), which has a total population of 4,352 at present and has only 32 functional computers, received 21 units of additional computers through the iSchools project of the
Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT).
The said CICT project which was implemented in coordination with
Polytechnic State College of Antique aimed to equip ANS students and teachers with ICT skills to bridge the gap between them and their foreign counterparts. It is also hoped that this project can improve delivery of instruction and strengthen classroom learning.
Initial take-off of the project was on July 31 – August 10, 2007, when Prof. Nelly E. Mistio, project manager, conducted on - site survey to evaluate the project feasibility. Series of meetings were conducted to inform concerned stakeholders-local government,ANS faculty, administration, students, parents and community - about the said project which receives approval from them.
The two other schools in Antique considered for the project were the Laboratory High School of the
Polytechnic State College of Antique (PSCA) and San Pedro National High School (SPNHS) in San Pedro, San Jose. SPNHS was later changed to Pascual Osuyos National High School in Tobias Fornier, Antique due to lack of infrastructure for Internet connectivity and small population to benefit from the project. Besides, Pascual Osuyos National High School has never been a recipient of any government computerization project.
